The Letter C

December 20, 2007

Christmas: This is probably obvious as it is the right time of year, so of course it is on my mind. We are having family come to our house for Christmas, so I’m a little stressed out. Our house needs to be cleaned, not to mention all the organizing we need to get done. I do like Christmas though, even with all the craziness. Christmas songs are also a plus. I have a new favorite one this year, Labor of Love. Go look it up if you’ve never heard of it. It’s a good one.

Cookies: I LOVE cookies…and well…most dessert/snacks. But I do like to make cookies and my favorite (because they are fun) are sugar cookies. How are sugar cookies fun you ask? Well I like to take parts of the dough and put food coloring in. Then I can make swirly or striped or checkered cookies. They are sometimes crazy looking but they are fun and taste great.

Chocolate: As much as I LOVE cookies, I think I LOVE chocolate even more! I would eat chocolate everyday if I could. And well let’s face it, sometimes I do eat chocolate everyday! I like the chocolate even more if it has peanut butter with it!

College: I went to college and got my BS degree in Business Administration-Marketing. And now little monkey’s Dad is trying to finish up his AS degree. So, now I’m becoming tutor to him for Humanities (SO not my favorite) and College Algebra (a VERY tough subject for him) I thought I was done with college…but little monkey’s Dad tells me otherwise.

The Letter B

December 13, 2007

Boys: Currently all other members of my house are boys…well guys might be more appropriate since one is 21months old(Little Monkey), one is 9years old(dog) and the other is 26years old(Little Monkey’s Dad)! There is no escape! But I love them…I think most of my life my best friends have always been guys.

Bob: And Larry…Thankfully Little Monkey is enjoying the Veggietales. I like Bob…although I do think Larry is actually my favorite…he’s fun and seems to not always be there, while Bob is more the guy who knows what’s going on and the perfect way it should be done.

Books: I’m not much of a reader these days, but over the past few months…okay, almost a year…I’ve read a couple. It all started with It’s All Too Much by Peter Walsh. I really like him and his ideas, but I would NOT want him to come to my house! After reading this book, I think you are supposed to be inspired to clean up your house. Well I was, for a short time period! We’re still working on it slowly, but we’re getting there. You know…the things you hold onto because someone gave it to you, it meant something a long time ago, maybe you’ll have another baby…you get the idea! While we still have plenty of stuff we no longer really NEED to be holding onto, we are working on getting some things cleaned out. Little monkey’s room is next on the list I think. He has more toys than any child needs. It’s probably enough for an entire village in a third world country. So needless to say, we need to go through his toys and at the very least, box up items for our future (possibly) children.

The Letter A

Amos: My dog. I got Amos when he was a puppy to raise to be a service dog. Unfortunately, he failed out of service dog college and got to come back to live with us. He is now 9 years old and mostly hangs around. Little monkey loves to chase him around and “tickle” him.

America: Our country…while things haven’t been the best that they probably could be, we must remember how blessed we are to be able to live in such a country. We really do have it much better than many other countries.

Alto: The voice part that I sing.  :) Other people are starting to notice it and I’m not so sure that’s a good thing!

ABCs

December 11, 2007

I’ve seen this idea on a friend’s blog as well as just around online and figured I’d give it a try. So I’ll try and post somewhat regularly to get through the ABCs.

New Milk…

December 6, 2007

This past week, little monkey started three new kinds of milk. It started off on Orange and he wouldn’t drink it. Then the next day he drank all he was required to drink and more! Hooray!! Things will be fine!! The next day, he didn’t want the Orange. Crap! We tried the Chocolate. He apparently thought I was crazy because he wouldn’t even drink an ounce of it! We went back to his old milk and he drank some, not all of it, but better than nothing. Finally we tried the Unflavored flavor and it went okay. I called the dietitian and we have decided to rotate between Orange, Unflavored and the old milk. Hopefully a combination of this and also changing out the type of cup he uses will work. One day he had milk in a cup and wouldn’t drink it. I put it in a different type of cup and low and behold he started drinking it like crazy! Since he is on some new milk (Orange and Unflavored) he is also required to take a supplement in his milk on those days. It is to help give him extra calories and other good stuff that he’s not getting in his other milk or foods.
We thought we were going to get to space out our Doctor appointments to every two months instead of every month. We got his lab results back though and his levels were high. So now we have to go back in one month, again. They think his levels may have gone up because he actually lost weight over the past month! How the heck did he lose weight? Oh well, time to keep stuffing him full of food! We believe that his levels may have also been high due to a miscommunication between my husband and me. I had told the dietitian about it but since it hadn’t happened in the three days right before his doctor’s appointment, they didn’t see a record of it. Hopefully the excess has passed out of his system and he’s going to return to normal levels.
