Call to HP

May 1, 2008

Originally I had been given an estimated return date for my laptop as tomorrow. Then I received an email saying that they were working hard but it might not be here then. I checked the status online tonight and it still showed and estimated delivery of tomorrow but it had not shipped yet. Just a guess….but it’s not going to be here tomorrow. I called HP and got a nice man with a name I cannot pronounce (let alone even understand when he said it). He said that it showed an estimated delivery date of tomorrow but confirmed that it had not shipped and that it would not be here tomorrow. When asked what the new estimated delivery date might be, he said that they did not know yet but should have a new date on the 3rd or the 4th. He also told me that there is a part shortage for the part that I need for my computer to be fixed (this cannot be good) but he did not tell me what part they are waiting for or what is wrong with it. So I guess now I just sit and wait and hope for a new delivery date and hope that it will be soon. At least I don’t have to feel like the only person who is awaiting the arrival of their laptop back from the HP Laptop Hospital because my Dad’s computer has yet to return too.  :(

Another reason to not like Walmart

May 1, 2008

In an effort to save time and gas, yesterday I decided I would try price matching with grocery ads at Walmart. I had heard of people doing this before and it worked fine, except that they do not match buy one get one frees or buy x get y. Not a problem for the items I was wanting to get. I went to customer service before getting my items to verify their price matching policy. I used the Albertson’s ad as an example with Hunts Spaghetti sauce on sale 10 for $10. I said, so if you price match and I wanted to get 1 Hunts sauce it would be $1, correct? The girl did not know and went to find a manager. After some discussion in a side office with multiple people, she came back and informed me that yes I could use the ad to price match items. (She did not give any stipulations about how it must be followed or even about buy one get ones.)

I went and picked up my items. Two items I was pricing matching. Oscar Mayer Turkey Hot Dogs from the Albertson’s ad at 10/$10. And Hot Pockets/Lean Pockets/Calzones from the Winn Dixie ad at 6/$10. I also picked up a few other things, fruits for Little Monkey and a shirt and beer for Big Monkey. I got to the check out and amazingly there was a cashier just waiting for me to arrive. (Normally at Walmart I go to self checkout but I could not do that since I was price matching items.) I put the price matching items on the belt first and pull out the ads. I told her which items were being price matched from each ad. She looks first at the Winn Dixie ad and the assortment of Hot Pockets I got. I had only picked up 5, mainly because it will take a while to go through those anyhow and it was all that looked decent at the time. She tells me, you only got 5. (Wow..she’s good!) I said I know…and they would be $1.66 each. She tells me that I have to get 6 for $10 if I want to price match. Oh geez, there was no stipulation of that at customer service and if I went to Winn Dixie I would not have to buy 6 to get the sale price. I told her that is not what I was told at customer service so she goes to speak with a manager. The manager says the same thing and the cashier tells me that whatever floor associate told me that, they don’t know what they are talking about and I shouldn’t listen to them (But as I had told her I asked AT customer service). Since they were going to play the game this way, I told her she could have the frozen food items and my hot dogs back. I was only getting three packs of hot dogs because what on Earth would I do with 100 hot dogs???? So she gladly takes the items back and she rings out the rest of my order and I’m off on my not so merry way. This was quite frustrating to me because when I specifically made the effort to go ask about the price matching policy, this “rule” was not given to me. In the end I have learned that I will not likely be price matching anything at Walmart in the future. I already try and shop there as little as possible but sometimes things are just cheaper there. I also ended up going to Winn Dixie and getting the items I wanted from there. So much for saving time and gas. :(
