Today has been a trying day for getting Little Monkey to eat his food. ANY food…yesterday was similar but then he ate a nice sized helping of pasta for dinner to make up for most of it. We were leaving the fire station from dropping off some stuff for Big Monkey and I thought I’d try to get him to eat something before we left. Here is the conversation that followed:
Me: Do you want a snack?
LM: No.
Me: Do you want something to eat?
LM: No.
Me: Are you hungry?
LM: No.
Me: Do you want a drink?
LM: No.
Me: Are you thirsty?
LM: No.
Me: Do you know any other words besides no?
LM: Yeah.
Crazy kid. I think he does understand most of that too! So hopefully I’ll be able to get him to eat something decent for dinner tonight. He picked out grapes at Target today but has only eaten a few so far.

The truck should be ready sometime today if it isn’t already. Big Monkey is at work (less than a football field from the auto shop) and he’ll walk down and get it when it is ready.
They called yesterday to let us know that they drove it all around and ran it like crazy but could not get it to overheat. They have decided they think the thermostat is going but not yet gone. Not wanting to take a chance of being stuck on the highway again with a broken down truck in the middle of summer, Big Monkey is having them replace it and do the oil change. They also suggested replacing the radiator cap which Big Monkey will do himself for less money.
Today Big Monkey was at work when they got a call from dispatch for an automatic fire alarm at the AAMCO (where our truck is). They were called off before they ever left the station saying it was accidental and all was fine. It is their policy to still go check things out just to be sure everything is fine. They got down to AAMCO and the manager assured them that someone was just working on a vehicle and it set off the alarm but that everything was fine. The Lt. on duty was not satisfied with that answer and asked to go talk to the mechanic because they needed something more than that to put in the report. They go talk to the mechanic who said, “Oh that truck over there was on fire. But it’s out and fine.” Big Monkey says, “Which truck? That red one right there?” The mechanic says, “Yeah.” Big Monkey says, “That’s MY truck!” Oh geez…apparently something got sprayed into the engine area or something and it caught fire. But the truck is fine as of right now and the shop has agreed to pay for any damage the fire may have caused if anything shows up. Hopefully everything really is fine! Such drama, but the good news is that we should still be getting the truck back today and all should be fine.
