Baskin-Robbins 31cent Scoop Night

April 29, 2009

Tonight from 5-10pm, head on over to your local Baskin-Robbins store for 31 cent scoop night! Each person may get up to three scoops for 31 cents each! Baskin-Robbins will be donating $100,000 to the National Volunteer Fire Council National Junior Firefighter Program. At some stores, you may also have the opportunity to donate to a local fire charity.

We happen to like firefighters around here (since that is Big Monkey’s job!) and we may very well head over to Baskin-Robbins tonight for some ice cream. Enjoy!

Publix Shopping Trip

April 28, 2009

On Monday, Little Monkey and I headed out to run a few errands. (I’m not even sure how we managed. I felt terrible, although not sick but we needed somethings from the store.) Here is a rundown of how we did. (Not bad I don’t think..considering we stocked up on quite a bit.

4 bottles of Hunt’s Ketchup-BOGO
2 boxes of Honey Bunches of Oats Cereal-BOGO
1 box Publix rotoni
1 package of Folgers Breakfast Blend Coffee
1 5lb bag of Red Potatoes (On sale)
2 boxes frozen Starkist Seasations-BOGO (Plus I had $3 off coupons, actually ending up making them both free! So I figured we’d give them a try.)
2 Stouffer’s Grandma’s Chicken & Rice Family Size  (On sale)
1 Stouffer’s Lasagna Family Size (On sale)
1 Stouffer’s Chicken Noodle Dinner Family Size (On sale)
4 bottles of Ocean Spray Cranberry Juice-BOGO
3 jars of Prego pasta sauce (On sale)
1/2 gallon of Publix Ice Cream (On sale) (Birthday Cake kind…it is SO good!)
4 bottle of Sauve Shampoo/Conditioner (On sale)
Milk (On sale)
1/4 Watermelon (On sale) (This was SO sweet. Very yummy. I probably could have eaten the whole thing myself!)
1/2 Publix Turkey Sub (for lunch-this is what happens when a hungry pregnant women goes grocery shopping)

Grand Total after sales, bogos and coupons: $55.87
Total Savings: $52.83

Not too shabby. Could have been better if I didn’t buy a sub for lunch or stock up on as many things as we did. The Stouffer’s are a great price this week ($3.99, regular price is $6.99) so I got the limit of four. We were in need of ketchup (had NONE in the pantry-that is practically an emergency in this house!) and pasta sauce so I picked those up also. Big Monkey had asked for the Cranberry juice last week but since I saw it would be on sale this week, I made him wait. And now we’re stocked up for awhile.

UNFry Day at KFC

April 27, 2009

Today, April 27th, is UNFry Day at KFC. Head on over to your local KFC and get a free piece of their new grilled chicken! (The type of chicken piece you get is up to each store’s management. So you could end up with a chicken breast or a chicken thigh.) It’s still free food! :)

Lame Night Quizzes

April 26, 2009

So last night I was bored, Big Monkey went with his friend to BikeFest and Little Monkey had worn me out already. We watched some Mickey Mouse and I played around online. My mom had sent me an invite on Facebook for a quiz. I decided that I would take it…and then got side tracked and took some others! I didn’t post any of the results on my profile, but decided to share some of them here with you!
What Movie is Your Life?

Footloose–You have a rebellious side to you. You know exactly what you want out of life. You just want to have some fun, loosen up a bit and make everything on the other side of the fence “YOURS.”

Which Grease Character Are You?

Sandy–you are a quiet, shy girl who concentrates more on her studies then social life. you make friends easily but have a nervous disposition. you follow your parents rules and always stick to curfews, you wont drink unless at a family party and smoking is out of the question. you wear sensible clothing and you are well spoken. you are attractive and have the most beautiful hair! all your friends like you and support you with anything, and you return the favour. you also have a dark side waiting to be released, all you have to do is pick one and say…YOUR THE ONE THAT I WANT..to be..

What Font Are You?

You are Comic Sans. You think of yourself as wacky, creative and a free spirit. You love Twilight and the word funky. You love all work events, especially the holiday party, and of course you love to read the company newsletter! Are you even aware of how irritating and tedious you are to your friends and co-workers?

Which Muppet Are You?

Scooter-You are a very hard worker, and efficient in every task that you do. You prefer to be behind the scenes, organizing the details. With a knack for management, you will climb the ranks of anything you put your focus on. You believe that all jobs need to be done with the same amount of effort, and have no problems pitching in with the grunt work in order to have things run smoothly.

Are You A True Floridian? (I’d hope so…born and raised!)

Yes–You would rather be wearing Flip-Flops. You know to avoid Disney during the summer. You can name all the seasons: tourist, hurricane, sea lice. You’ve taken a day trip to Key West. You prefer Publix to Albertson’s. You have a tan year-round.

I’m not sure I agree with all of these, but it was interesting and allowed me to relax on our boring night, :)

A New Ring-

April 25, 2009

Yesterday I decided that it was about time I ordered a new ring for my belly button piercing. Since I am pregnant, I am going to have to change out my ring soon to something that is flexible and will allow my belly grow with the baby while not messing up my piercing. I had done the same thing for Little Monkey, but who knows what happened to that ring and it would probably be best to just get a new one. I looked around online and ended up ordering one from Belly Charms. Much to my surprise, the new ring showed up today! Great turn around! I will probably go ahead and put the new ring in sometime in the next week or so.

Since we don’t know what we are having, I got a ring that has a pink ball and a blue ball (far right):

We are hoping to find out soon what we are having so that we can either start getting pink stuff and getting rid of excess blue items or we can go through Little Monkey’s stuff to see what we might still need (I can’t imagine we’d need much if anything.). I go back to the Doctor on Wednesday, so we’ll see how things are going. I haven’t heard yet when they are planning for an ultrasound, but I imagine it will be within the next month. They are now able to do the ultrasounds at their office, so maybe we can have it done while we’re already there for another appointment.

Ummm.. What?

April 24, 2009

I was going through my blog feeds when I came across this article: Would You Wear Bikini Jeans?

Now…I’m sure that has to peak your interest, at least a little bit. My thoughts were…what the heck are bikini jeans? Jeans to wear over your bikini? Jeans that allow your bikini to show through?   What on Earth? None of these options sounded that great.

And then I clicked on the blog feed…and saw this lovely photo (although it was a bit larger):

It all made sense now. Well no, not really but I guess it somewhat explains it. Apparently these are already popular in Japan…and could become a new fashion trend here. Really? I mean it looks like this girl 1. Doesn’t weigh enough 2. Wore jeans that are too small and 3. Is showing us her thong. Not appealing. Really, not appealing at all. (If I’m wrong, you feel free to let me know…but seriously, aside from strippers or some crazy clubbing folks, who would buy these?)

Little Monkey Funny

April 23, 2009

I wanted to write this story down because I thought it was cute and wanted to remember it.

This past Sunday we were helping clean up after church and I told Little Monkey that we were going to go see Grandpa at lunch. He got very excited and said, “I want to go to Chick a lay.” I thought this was pretty funny because we don’t go to Chick-fil-a THAT often and Little Monkey can only eat the fries from there. (Which he has had ONCE and liked when we went to a birthday party for a friend.)

Little Monkey with his waffle fries for the first time!

Little Monkey with his waffle fries for the first time!

Sadly I had to let Little Monkey know that Chick-fil-a is not open on Sundays (of course that seems to be the day EVERYONE wants Chick-fil-a…I think it has something to do with wanting what you cannot have.). He told me again and again that he wanted to go to “Chick a lay.” There is actually a guy at our church who is an operator of a Chick-fil-a. Some people call him “The Chicken Man.” I told him that Little Monkey asked to go to his store the only day it isn’t open! :) He was happy to hear that he wanted to go there and that he can actually eat something from their store.

We finally finished cleaning up and headed out to meet Grandpa for lunch. We were going to Oakwood. We pull into the parking lot and Little Monkey says, “What’s this? Where’s lunch?” I told him that this is lunch. This was where we were meeting Grandpa. He says, “But this isn’t Chick a lay!” Nothing gets past this kid! Sorry Little Monkey, once again, Chick-fil-a is not open on Sundays. Maybe one day this week we’ll have to head over to Chick-fil-a and get Little Monkey some waffle fries.

(Now that I’ve written this, I’m betting that most people won’t think it was that funny or even care. But I don’t care what you think! I thought it was cute and wanted to remember it!)

Double Coupons At Kmart Again!

April 22, 2009

This week, participating Kmart stores are having double coupons. They will double manufacturer’s coupons up to and including $2! I have been to Kmart for double coupons twice before. I even blogged about them here and here. I did not get as much this time around as I did in those trips but that’s okay. Here is this trip’s purchases:

Yes, only five items! But, only five items for $2.30. I had more coupons with me but either they didn’t have the item, or with double coupons, it still wasn’t worth it to me to buy it. So this is all we ended up with.

Dove Conditioner $3.95
$1.50 coupon doubled to $3   made it $0.95
Huggies wipes $2.50
$1.00 coupon doubled to $2 made it $0.50
Hormel Compleats Chicken and Rice Meal $2.00
$1.00 coupon doubled to $2 made it FREE
Temptations Cat Treats $1.89
$1.00 coupon doubled to $1.89 made it FREE (they won’t give you overage)
Cocoa Krispies $2.50
$1.00 coupon double to $2 made it $0.50

Grand Total after taxes $2.30

I tried the Hormel Compleats meal for dinner tonight…and while it wasn’t great it also wasn’t inedible. I wouldn’t buy them again but for free it was worth a try. The cat treats (yes I know we don’t have a cat) will go to my friend Joe for his cats. I got them because they were also free. I have a hard time turning down free! :) So overall not a great set of deals but still not bad.
