Little Monkey’s lab results from about two weeks ago are finally back. The good news is that his phe level was low, about 1.3. It can actually stand to be a little bit higher (we’re aiming for between 2-6 usually). His dietitian decided to give him more phe for his daily intake. She tells me that when he’s 12 I’ll be begging for more phe but right now we’re having a hard time getting the 220mg in a day and now we’re up to 240mg a day! She assured me that it is okay to use milk if we need to. She also suggested toast (with normal white bread) with jelly or plain, grilled cheese with regular white bread and lo-pro cheese, regular pasta (which he already eats) and rice. We’ll see how he does. She also said that we should not let him “graze” on his food all day (like we do because it’s the only way he’ll eat!). She wants us to give him a set time for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks and if he doesn’t eat then to take it away and use the milk in his formula. Maybe he’ll get hungry later and want to eat.
Big Monkey also had some labs run this week and his came back too. Everything came back normal, except his cholesterol. Guess we’ll have to look into ways to get that down!
