Camping Day Two

We woke up bright and early and had some breakfast. Once everyone was up and had breakfast, we decided to head down to the beach. It was Little Monkette’s first trip to the beach. She seemed to like it a lot. She wanted to crawl off the towel I set her on and grab the sand. After a little bit in the sun, she decided the best idea was to wrap up in a towel and take a nap!

A beach side nap

While Little Monkette enjoyed her beach side nap, the boys played some football and went fishing. Little Monkey also played in the sand with the other kids. You would think that he has never been to the beach before!

Once we’d all had enough beach for the morning, we headed back to camp for some lunch and nap time for some of the kids. We had left Roland in the camper alone…without a crate…and we were a bit worried as to how the camper might look when we returned. Amazingly it appeared that all he did was curl up on Big Monkey’s pillow and sleep! Somehow, our campsite ended up being the ‘cool’ campsite. I think it had something to do with the fact that we weren’t their parents, so we’re still kinda cool people. And we had games! We had a board game afternoon of Battleship and Connect Four. I think the other parents were happy to know that their kids were occupied and out of trouble.

During the afternoon, the guys went out to get some more ice and got some fresh shrimp. Some of the kids helped to behead and de-vein the shrimp for dinner. It was a great dinner. We all had shrimp as an add on to whatever we were each having that night. We ended up the evening gathered around the fire while most of the kids (except Little Monkey and Little Monkette) played hide and seek with flashlights!

Roland managed to figure out that sleeping in the camper wasn’t too bad. While he didn’t get to sleep in bed with us, like he usually does at home, he did get his own space to sleep in.

Roland likes camping.
